About the owner

Soaring Eagle Engineering & Design Ltd or SEED Ltd for short, is an Alberta company, recently established in 2024 as a start-up. Brian Funk, the owner and operator of SEED Ltd, was a migrant from Malaysia and got his training and education from Singapore. He moved to Alberta, Canada in 2008 to continue building his engineering career in Canada. He began his Alberta career as an engineer-in-training with a reputable Edmonton consulting firm, where he gained valuable early experience in engineering practice. Over the course of more than 25 years, Brian has worked in the O/G sector, OEM, design / consulting firms and various local manufacturers in Alberta and Singapore.

Brian is now a fully licensed professional engineer with the province of Alberta and has a good standing record with APEGA. He specializes in mechanical engineering, product design / development, 3D modeling, drafting, stress analysis, reverse engineering, manufacturing plant layout design, procurement and project management. Recognizing that many small and med-sized businesses need engineering support without the cost of a full-time internal hire, Brian founded SEED Ltd to provide flexible, practical, and accessible engineering services.

With SEED, Brian hopes to use his talent to good use and to help small and medium businesses to grow their businesses. SEED Ltd is a focused and growing engineering firm built around responsive service, practical problem-solving, and hands-on support for clients who need reliable mechanical engineering assistance. The challenge is high but the risk is higher. With perseverance and determination, SEED will grow, slowly but surely. In order to soar like an eagle, one must start from the bottom. Hence, the name Soaring Eagle Engineering & Design Ltd bears it's name.
