D11 Bogie Pin Hydraulic Remover

D11 Bogie Pin Hydraulic Remover

Custom tool designed by the client and certified by SEED Ltd. This tool is designed to remove Caterpillar D11 Dozer Bogie Pins. It is capable of 100,000lbs of force running at 10,000psi. It helps the maintenance operators to safely remove press-fitted pins efficiently with ease.

Redesign of Tape Machine

One of our clients experienced significant issues with a newly purchased equipment that prevented reliable use in production. SEED was called and assessed the situation. We redesigned the roller sections of the equipment, which reduced product jams significantly and improved usability in production. We built prototypes in phases and assembled them on site using 3D Printing. This is still an ongoing project. More updates to come.

Truck Layout

Standardization of Truck Layout

Another customer wants to standardize their future fleet of trucks all across Canada. SEED was engaged to review the requirement and develop a standardized layout solution. We provide drawings on the layout that they choose and want to adopt this layout on all of their future trucks.

980E Dump Body Block

Design collaboration between the client and SEED. This product is designed to be used on the 980E Komatsu mining truck when it is in the workshop. The tool is rated for 65 ton each. The main objective is to build as light as possible so the mechanics can carry it on the ladder. This tool weighs 32lbs compared to the original tool that weighs 64lbs.

Resolve Part Stuck Issue

This is another solution that we implemented on the machine to mitigate part getting stuck during production. We added an actuator mounted on the thrust plate and connected to a new integrated PLC.

Plant Optimization Project for an Alberta-based Manufacturer

SEED partnered with another company to assess a local manufacturer in Edmonton. We analyzed video data of two high volume lines and determined non-value added activities. Not only that but we took data of other production lines. We compiled our findings and produced reports outlining recommended improvements. We also produced multiple manufacturing layouts that would improve efficiency of the plant.

Variety of Reverse Engineering Projects

We do get a few reverse engineering requests from our clients. We measure, construct on a 3D platform and create fabrication drawings on individual parts. We will deliver high quality drawings packages complete with the list of bill of material including 3D stp files of the equipment in a timely manner.

New Product Development Project

This is an example of a new product development concept design. The client will express their desire to improve efficiency or safety to the production line. We will brainstorm a few ideas and put it on paper. We would go through a few design reviews and iterations until we get it right. From there, we will produce shop drawings so clients are able to move to the next step.

SEED performed stress analysis and ensure design of this tool is safe to be used.

Facility Layout Projects

A few clients requested site measurements of their existing manufacturing plants and we provide them with an updated layout drawing. This enables them to plan strategically how to organize their manufacturing flow or how to make use of the space they have to their advantage.
